?We provide family centred maternity care for women who plan to give birth at Richmond Hospital and their families. Our Birth Centre features 15 single room maternity care (SRMC) rooms, a maternity-specific operating room, a post-surgery recovery area and an area with 3 outpatient assessment stretchers. The single room mode of care provides best practice standards to support new families.

We provide services to women who are experiencing a normal birth, medium-risk pregnancy, or who are having premature babies. Specialized care i s available for high-risk mothers and babies at St. Paul's Hospital and BC Women's Hospital.
You will be referred to the Birth Centre by your physician or midwife during early pregnancy. Care is provided to you and your baby before labour (if required), during labour, and following the birth until discharge. After the birth of your baby, and while you are still in hospital, a Public Health Nurse will visit you at your bedside to share information about public health services available to support you and your baby when you go home. You will also receive a telephone call from a public health nurse after you go home to assess the health of you and your baby.
