Hello VGH Fitness & Wellness Centre Member,

Thank you for your patience with us throughout our progressive reopening.  We are excited to announce a full reopening, beginning on March 1st, 2021! This launch will include changes such as increased session availability, updating of existing member files, resumption of gym membership payments, new payment options, and acceptance of new members.

Going forward, you can expect the following changes as outlined below.

1. Increased session availability

  • In response to the high demand for more sessions, we have added additional staff to our roster to extend our operating hours
  • There will be increased sessions available on selected evenings and weekends  to accommodate a variety of schedules; these additional session will be reflected in our online booking system (Janeapp) schedule calendar
2. Update of membership files
  • All existing members will be required to fill out our new membership application form to ensure all personal and membership information is current and up to date. Members currently using the gym should do the following:
    • Print and fill out our Membership Application at home (Please sign and initial in pen accordingly ? e-signatures are not accepted)
    • Bring your completed Membership Application to your next session
  • Any paid credit from memberships purchased after March 2020 are eligible to transfer to future payments

3. Resumption of gym membership payments and new payment options
  • Gym membership payments will resume effective March 1st, 2021 for all members
  • Payroll deduction will still be available for all full-time VCH employees
  • Membership fees will resume at the following rates (see below)
    • 1 year = $280.00
    • 6 months = $150.00
    • 3 months = $80.00
    • 1 month = $30.00
    • 10-punch card (10 sessions + 1 free session) = $75.00
    • Drop-in = $8.00

4. Acceptance of new members

  • Effective March 1st, 2021 the VGH Fitness & Wellness Centre will be accepting new members
  • Prospective members should do the following:
    • Fill and print out our Membership Application at home (Please sign and initial in pen accordingly ? e-signatures are not accepted) and bring it to your first session
    • All members must book their 1-hour sessions in advance via Janeapp, our online booking system. Sign up for a Janeapp account and book your first session
    • Please review our Code of Conduct prior to your first session. Arrive 5-10 minutes early to your first session for membership payment and orientation. Doorbell upon arrival if the gym door is closed. Please come prepared in your exercise attire, with a filled water bottle, mask, and your completed Membership Application form.

Our staff has been working hard to bring back the opportunity for safe exercise, and we appreciate your patience in this process. We hope these changes improve your experience at the Wellness Centre, and any feedback is appreciated. We look forward to serving your wellness needs!

VGH Fitness and Wellness Centre Staff

Discover the best kept secret at Vancouver General Hospital! The VGH Fitness and Wellness Centre welcomes all VCH employees and members of the community who are 19 years and older.

  • Convenient - The centre is located on-site in the Heather Annex, Heather Pavilion. It can be accessed from the Heather parking lot entrance, or through the tunnel.

  • Well-equipped - The centre is well equipped with state of the art machines for cardiovascular fitness and weight training, as well as, a variety of fitness classes. 

  • Safety - Only members are able to enter through card access, and all members must wear a shoe tag (with tag colour rotations done annually). The centre is unsupervised, and we recommend that you exercise with a friend, or let someone know that you are at the centre.

  • Amenities - Towel and water service is available. Please bring your own water bottle, as disposable cups are not provided. Showers and lockers are provided for use during work-out times only. 


  • Public pricing: $30 / 1 month, $80 / 3 months, $150 / 6 months, $280 / year

  • VCH staff pricing: $12.00 payroll deduction per paycheque (F/T VCH payroll employees only) 

Become a member

Bring your form to the centre when the Attendant is working during the scheduled class times.

When you arrive, ring the doorbell and the Attendant will open the door for you. For public/non-payroll members, please bring cash or cheque for membership fees.

For renewal or cancellation, you can either drop off the form in the mail box slot outside the entrance or give it to the Attendant when he/she is working.

Parking & transportation

There is pay parking available at our two visitor lots located on the VGH campus:

  • Multi-level parkade at the corner of West 12th Avenue and Laurel Street, across from the main entrance of the Jim Pattison Pavilion.

  • The Gordon and Leslie Diamond Health Care Centre parking lot is located off of Laurel Street between West 12th and West 13th Avenue.

There is a wheelchair-accessible overpass from the VGH parkade at Level 4 and a crosswalk at Level 2.
