Provides comprehensive HIV prevention services, flexible testing, care and treatment, housing, public health follow-up and education to target vulnerable populations including:
LGBTQ2S (lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, queers/questioning and two-spirited)
Youth
Indigenous people
Immigrants and refugee communities
People with mental health and/or substance use issues
STOP services offered include:
Outreach services
Nursing support
Social Work support
Physician/NP support for PrEP and PEP (HIV pre-exposure prophylaxisnd post-exposure prophylaxis)
Peer support (in partnership with Positive Living BC)
The team's key functions and role include:
HIV, STI and hepatitis testing through oartnerships in community settings
Special events and high risk venues
Engagement in HIV care and treatment including outreach, short-term intensive case management, treatment access and connection to care
Public health follow-up in collaboration with VCH Communicable Diseases Control Team to provide counselling and referral services, and to identify others vulnerable to HIV
Education and capacity building through HIV education, training and resource support to enhance existing health and social services
