Food Safety Program - Gibsons Health Unit

Our program regulates the source, storage, handling, preparation and transportation of food intended for public consumption.

Some of our services include:

  • providing information upon request to the general public and in a regular newsletter to the industry about regulatory and food safety issues

  • promoting, sponsoring and providing food safety courses to the food service industry, volunteers and the general public

  • effecting emergency food recalls

  • issuing food service establishments operating permits where applicable

  • inspecting the operation of food premises on a routine and complaint basis

  • enforce food control legislation

  • receiving and responding to complaints from the public concerning suspected illness from the consumption of food products
