Seating Service - G.F. Strong

The Seating Service provides support to clinicians in the public health system in the province of British Columbia and the Yukon regarding their clients' complex seating and mobility issues.

Seating and mobility issues may include: pressure injuries, significant postural deformity, pain and spasticity or exploration of alternate drive controls. Support is provided in a consultative manner to a client's primary therapist ? usually an Occupational Therapist. The consultation typically includes a joint initial assessment to determine the complexity of the client's needs and the formulation of a seating and mobility intervention plan to optimize postural supports and functional performance. The intervention plan may include equipment trials and recommendations, custom seating, mobility training and client/caregiver education. In person and virtual consults are offered depending on region.

Clients served must be residents of BC or the Yukon, age 19+; require the use of a wheelchair and have a public health clinician actively involved in their care.
