Acupuncture - South Mental Health and Substance Use Services

Vancouver Community Mental Health and Substance Use Services provides community acupuncture for detoxification (withdrawal) from substances and to manage cravings. Individual treatments performed by Registered Acupuncturists and are offered in a safe, comfortable, group setting. Acupuncture points used in treatment are usually limited to points that can be used while a patient can sit in a chair (usually inserted in the ears, arms or legs). New, sterilized, disposable needles are inserted in various points and the client rests quietly for 40 minutes.

Acupuncture may reduce or eliminate withdrawal symptoms such as drug craving, body aches, headache, nausea, sweating, muscle cramping; lessen depression, anxiety, stress and insomnia; and reduce side effects of medications.
