Beulah Gardens Adult Day Program ? A Service of South Vancouver Neighbourhood House

Beulah Adult Day Program is a specialized service that supports frail seniors with physical and /or cognitive challenges to live independently in in their community for as long as possible.

We believe that our seniors have the right to a meaningful life in a supportive, caring environment. Using a person-centered approach to care, our trained staff team is committed to enriching the lives of our elders by facilitating medical and therapeutic programs which reflect their health needs, interests and abilities and by providing opportunities to have fun, connect with others, make new friends and contribute to community.

Our Activity Team works with seniors to facilitate a variety of individual, small and large group

activities based on interest, language and ability level.  These include:

  • Three daily falls prevention, functional fitness exercise programs for high, medium and low functioning participants

  • mental aerobics

  • discussion groups

  • active games

  • music therapy

  • art and craft projects

  • entertainment

  • multicultural celebrations and events

  • Scenic and lunch outings

Our Nurse provides medical monitoring which includes:

  • Weight and blood pressure management

  • Dietary monitoring and counseling

  • One-on-one health consulting

  • Arrangement of on-site podiatry service

  • Health talks

  • Regular communication with family caregivers, Doctors and Case Managers

Family Caregivers are supported through caregiver events, one on one counselling, respite, and referral to community programs for seniors and caregivers facilitated by South Vancouver Neighbourhood House and other organizations. In partnership with Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House, Beulah offers a facilitated caregiver support group, with a hot dinner, that meets every 6 weeks. 

Beulah offers nutritious meals that include a hot breakfast, a three-course hot lunch, snacks and take-home meals.

Hours of operation

Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. ? 4 p.m.

Closed Saturday and Sunday and on all statutory holidays.

Program operates between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays.

Family members are welcome to visit during program hours.

New referrals are welcome by appointment only.

Referral

?Anyone may refer anyone they believe may be eligible for Adult Day Program Services by calling Central Intake at 604-263-7377. Self referrals are also welcome.

Parking & transportation

?There is free parking available on 4th and 5th avenues. For drop off, you may stop in front of the entrance to the Adult Day Program near 4th Avenue. The Centre will pick up seniors who have been admitted and are waiting for HandyDart Service. Read more information on HandyDart

Eligibility

Adult Day Program participants are seniors living in the community whose ability to function independently is affected by long term and/or chronic health challenges.

Eligibility is determined by a Case Manager in your local Community Health Centre through Vancouver Community Central Intake for Vancouver Coastal Health, Continuing Care Division at 604-263-7377.

Private pay options are available for people who do not qualify for the service through VCH. Please call us directly at 604-255-0413 for more information.
