Residents in South Vancouver will now have increased access to care for urgent needs, and team-based everyday health care.
The new Urgent and Primary Care Centre will provide care for unexpected, non-life-threatening health concerns that require treatment within 12-24 hours. If you do not have a primary care provider (family doctor or nurse practitioner) or your primary care provider is not available, then you can go to the Southeast UPCC for illnesses or injuries such as:
Social work and mental health services are also available on site.
Note: Medical imaging and lab services are within walking distance from the SE UPCC.
The UPCC will work in conjunction with family physicians and care providers and will not replace these as the first point of contact for non-emergency care, nor will it replace the Emergency Departments for life-threatening illnesses or injuries. Rather, the SE UPCC will be an additional service in the community, working in concert with all touch points for care to provide appropriate urgent services to patients, when and where they need it.
For life-threatening illnesses or injuries, call 9-1-1 or go the emergency department to be assessed and treated immediately.
For health concerns, call your family doctor or health-care provider first. Same-day urgent appointments are often available.
