Substance Use Services - South Mental Health and Substance Use Services

We provide short-term (6-8 sessions) counselling in substance use/misuse. We assess client needs and recommend appropriate treatment. We work with the substance use team to monitor client needs and progress and helps develop an appropriate care plan.

The counsellor provides consultation and works collaboratively with other counsellors, health care professionals and the client and client's family in the identification and resolution of client/family care issues, cultural and language barriers, ethical dilemmas and coordination and integration of care, and makes referrals to other service providers as appropriate. We support clients enrolled in opiate replacement therapy.

Harm reduction (including naloxone training and dispensing), acupuncture, SMART recovery, addictions medicine, access to mental health support, and access to rehabilitation (occupational therapy, recreation therapy, employment counselling, peer support) are also available on site.
