In the past, Vancouver Community has held parent-infant drop-in sessions to provide new parents with the chance to connect with and get support from other parents and health care professionals to discuss infant growth and development, nutrition, safety and adjustment to parenthood.
Over the next 18-24 months Vancouver Community will be reviewing our programs to ensure that our 0-5 program is based on a good understanding of the health needs of the population. We also want to ensure that we collaborate with other providers in the community so that together we can offer programs that help to reduce health inequities.
Vancouver Community will continue to deliver all of our core services through this review process (child health clinics, post-partum public health follow-up calls/visits) but some of our seasonal activities will be temporarily adjusted to create capacity for this review and renewal work.
In particular, from September 2018 to April 2019 Vancouver Community will be changing the number and location of some of our programs. Below is a list of Vancouver Community education programing for the fall/winter. Our aim is to continue to provide access to parent-infant education during this time by providing a public health nurse led education series throughout the city. See below. In our Resources section we have also provided you with a list of community partners who are providing programs and services that will help fill this temporary gap.
