Bone Densitometry - Vancouver General Hospital

What is Bone Density testing?

Bone density testing determines the mineral content or strength of your bones.  Your bone density values are used to evaluate your risk of developing osteoporosis or bone fractures, or to see if a treatment plan is stabilizing your bone density.

Are there any risks?

There are no injections and the amount of radiation you receive is very small.  Your appointment will take 10-30 minutes.  There are no after effects from this procedure.
