In-patient services - Arthritis and Neuromusculoskeletal Program - Inpatient Services - GF Strong

The Arthritis and Neuromusculoskeletal Program provides specialized rehabilitation using a team approach. The team may include physicians, physiatrists, rheumatologists, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and speech language pathologists, depending on the patients needs.

Intensive inpatient rehabilitation is offered to patients who have been diagnosed with complex systemic inflammatory rheumatic diseases and/or associated reconstructive surgery. These include: 
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Ankylosing spondylitis
  • Lupus
  • Scleroderma
  • Joint reconstructive surgeries (i.e. knee, hip, ankle)

Inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation is offered for people with a variety of neuromusculoskeletal impairments such as:
  • Neuromuscular diseases
  • Guillain Barre syndrome
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Critical Illness Polyneuropathy/polymyopathy
  • Complex trauma
  • Amputee
  • Burns
  • Organ transplant

Referral


Referrals to the arthritis program must be made by a rheumatologist or physiatrist. Complete the Arthritis Rehabilitation Referral Form.

Referrals to the neuromusculoskeletal program must be made by a physician. Complete the Outpatient Referral Form.

Parking & transportation

Paid parking is available. Pay stations are located at the main entrance to the building and at the staff entrance on 28th Avenue. 

Eligibility

The patient must be:
  • 16 years of age or older
  • Have a diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis or neuromusculoskeletal disease
  • Be medically stable
  • Have rehabilitation goals
