Accreditation

Accreditation is one of the most effective ways for VCH to regularly and consistently examine and improve the quality of its services.

We participate in accreditation to evaluate and enhance our services and demonstrate they meet national quality standards. The process is voluntary and all health authorities in BC participate. Accreditation is also an opportunity to showcase our leading practices and success stories, and celebrate the excellence of our staff, physicians and volunteers. Learn more about Accreditation Canada.

Accreditation Distinction Award for Regional Trauma Program

Vancouver Coastal Health’s outstanding trauma services are part of a Regional Trauma Program that includes trauma centres in Vancouver Coastal Health, Providence Health Care, and the Provincial Health Services Agency. In February 2016, our Regional Trauma Program participated in Accreditation Canada’s new Trauma Distinction Program and has now received the Trauma Distinction Award—the first program in Canada to do so.
