In October 2014, we asked for an external review of our emergency departments, mental health and addiction services. We wanted to examine how we currently provide care to people with mental health and substance misuse concerns, while ensuring public safety. The reviewers shared 22 recommendations to strengthen the care we provide. Work is underway to address some of the recommendations, while others will take more time.

in November 2013, at the request of the Ministry of Health, we undertook a focused review of the continuum of care and the partnerships required to care for individuals with severe addiction, often with severe mental illness, who have complex health, housing and other system needs.
