Barb Lawrie

Vice President, Professional Practice and Chief Clinical Information Officer

As Vice President of Professional Practice and Chief Clinical Information Officer, Barb Lawrie oversees professional practice across Vancouver Coastal Health and provides leadership to clinicians to achieve the essential “clinical transformation” within our Clinical and Systems Transformation (CST) project. 

Barb also serves as the executive lead for the Regional Surgical Program, working with our surgical medical directors and operational directors to advance surgical access and quality across VCH and Providence Health Care.
She has previously worked as Executive Director of Clinical Education and Collaborative Practice, as well as at Providence Health Care where she was Director of Professional Practice and Nursing. A registered nurse by profession and Adjunct Professor with the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia, Barb’s health care career has taken her across a spectrum of clinical roles in different settings throughout the lower mainland. Along with time as a critical care nurse at BC Children’s Hospital and cardiac nurse at St. Paul’s Hospital, she broadened her clinical skills in a variety of roles at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre before entering the corporate realm as the Regional Manager of Program Development and Learning & Career Development at VCH.
