While the holiday season is synonymous with gifts, celebrations, and perhaps one too many treats, it's also a time to give thanks and show kindness to people in our community. To show their appreciation for health care staff in Richmond, River Rock Casino Resort and the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (GCGC) delivered baskets of delicious goodies to staff at Minoru Residence and Richmond Lions Manor as a special thank you as part of their 12 days of Giving campaign.

Cameron Schmierer, Training and Development Specialist with GCGC said the decision to highlight staff at the residential care facilities was a collective decision by colleagues who have had loved ones who were cared for in Richmond and the very positive experiences they had with the hard working staff there.

“We have all had experiences with loved ones who were in hospital or care facilities, and despite the long hours and the stress of the job, the genuine and supportive care we have seen from all staff was amazing," says Cameron. “You have done so much for us, and for our community, that we wanted to show a little token of appreciation."

Both River Rock Casino and GCGC have launched a 12 days of Giving campaign that focusses on random acts of kindness in our community. They've also delivered treats to local firefighters, police officers, and other front line workers to say thank you for the important work they do.
