Celebrating Long Service across Vancouver

Since February, events have been held across Vancouver recognizing all of our incredible long-serving staff, physicians, and volunteers for their exceptional contributions to patient care.

From the larger events for Vancouver Community, Vancouver Acute and Corporate, to the site specific events held for GF Strong, Office of the Chief Medical Officer, UBCH/Purdy Pavilion, George Pearson Centre, Dogwood Lodge, and Banfield Pavilion, over 1500 staff, physicians and volunteers with five to 55 years of service (recognized in five year increments) celebrated their service milestones.

“It is service and dedication like yours that enables all of us to deliver the quality of care that is at the heart of what we do at VCH," says Mary Ackenhusen, President and CEO, at the Vancouver Acute and Corporate event. “Today, and every day, I want you thank you for your contribution. We could not do what we do here without you, and together, we will succeed in delivering exceptional care now and in the future."

Many staff participated in the events to recognize and support each other, and to take the opportunity to connect and celebrate their achievements together.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your dedication and commitment to putting caring at the heart of what you do every day," says Laura Case, VP, Vancouver-Richmond Community & Employee Engagement at the Vancouver Community event. “A heartfelt congratulations to each of you for reaching these milestones. What an accomplishment!"
