Community members from Squamish Nation show their support for health-care workers

03/02/2022

On Sunday, January 30, 2022, more than 50 people from Squamish Nation gathered outside of Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) to show their support for health-care workers through songs of honour and prayer.

The group – which included singers, dancers, drummers and a shaman – was brought together by Squamish Nation carver Darren Yelton, whose mother has been staying at LGH for the past two and a half weeks.

During his visits, Yelton noticed health-care workers were going above and beyond to provide his mother and the other patients at LGH with the best care possible during this difficult time, and he wanted to express his gratitude in a special way.

On the behalf of our health-care workers, we want to say thank you to everyone who took part in this touching display of gratitude.
