We’re proud to acknowledge our iPACE team on their Quality Award in the category of Coping with end of Life, from the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council.
The iPACE team (Integrating a Palliative Approach by Having Conversations Early) won the award for their work to improve the quality of end-of-life care at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH).
The team provides on-site education to health care staff who have not traditionally been trained in a palliative (end-of-life) approach to care. Staff learn to have early conversations with patients who have a serious illness and may benefit from a palliative approach to their care.
Because of this team’s work, the number of end-of-life conversations that staff are having with palliative patients has increased from 14 per month to 69 per month.
The iPACE team is: Nadya Repin, Jane Webley, Ingrid See, Sarah Lau, Umilla Stead, Katerina Velecky, Dara Lewis, Michelle Pan.
