In April 2019, the Province launched a measles immunization catch-up program to help BC families ensure their children are protected from measles. Over the past two months, Public Health teams across Vancouver Coastal Health have been working hard to increase access to measles immunizations (MMR, MMRV) for children and youth in our communities.
In addition to our regularly scheduled school immunization clinics, Child Health Clinics and drop-in clinics, Vancouver Community teams have also been hosting weekend measles clinics at various Community Health Centres across the city. So far, the response from the public has been tremendous.
On Saturday, May 25th, Evergreen CHC hosted an extremely successful measles clinic where approximately 100 children and youth received vaccination. The event was scheduled during “Collingwood Days,” an annual neighbourhood celebration which was attended by our Minister of Health, Adrian Dix. Minister Dix also had the opportunity to visit the clinic at Evergreen and expressed his gratitude for the work that all of our teams are doing to contribute to the success of the campaign.
Kudos to the team at Evergreen and to the staff from across the city who came out to provide support to the team and to help make this clinic a huge success!
An additional measles catch-up clinic is scheduled for this coming weekend:
South Community Health Centre
Saturday, June 1st
9:30am – 3:00pm
