Ada, Registered Nurse in the Burns Trauma High Acuity (BTHA) Unit at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH)
“Accepting a position at VCH is one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I am so proud to be part of the VCH team!" shares Ada, Registered Nurse. Ever since she was a nursing student doing clinical rotations at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), she knew that was where she wanted to work. “The hospital itself has modern technology and equipment and the staff working here are nothing but knowledgeable and encouraging."
Ada currently works in the Burns Trauma High Acuity (BTHA) unit, and she enjoys engaging with the patients and getting to know them a little better than on the general wards. She feels extremely supported by her team and says she goes into work knowing that she is never alone in any situation. “The teamwork on BTHA especially is phenomenal! I had a patient who was deteriorating, and without me asking or delegating, several colleagues took initiative to save the day!"
Ada and her team incorporate each of the VCH Values (We Care for Everyone, We are Always Learning, We Strive for Better Results) in their work every day. “I treat everyone with the same respect, whether it is a patient or a colleague. On our unit, we are always keeping up to date with the newest evidence-based practices, and learning about the newest technology. As a whole, we are always striving to provide the best patient-centered care."
When Ada isn't busy working, you can probably find her outside seeking out her next adventure. “I love the thrill of adrenaline! I have gone zip lining, bungee jumping and skydiving already. My motto in life? Work hard, play hard!"
