Lions Gate Hospital looks to North Shore community for input

07/05/2015
A small but highly used part of Lions Gate Hospital – the Outpatient Care Centre and main Atrium – is in the process of being redesigned to help improve the overall patient experience.
To make it easier for people to share their feedback, the project team have set up an information kiosk and an online survey.

Information kiosk

Located in the LGH main atrium for the next two weeks beginning Monday, May 11. The kiosk will be showcasing large visuals of the current design drawings and have someone available to answer questions from Monday to Friday (11 am to 2 pm) until May 22.

Online survey

The survey is open to all users, the Atrium and Wayfinding Redesign Survey should take 5 – 10 minutes to complete and is available at www.vch.ca/LGH-atrium-survey.
“On behalf of the entire team, we’d like to thank everyone who’s willing to provide their thoughts on these changes,” says Sean. “We’d like the final product to truly represent the wishes of the community.

What is the Outpatient Care Centre?

The Outpatient Care Centre of the hospital receives more than 20,000 patient visits every year, as patients from as far away as Powell River, Sechelt and Pemberton arrive for pre-surgical screening, joint replacement surgeries, rapid access spinal treatment and respiratory/breath programs.
To help inform several final decisions by the project team, the hospital is welcoming feedback from users on issues such as wayfinding, use of art as well as which services or amenities that these user groups feel are important.
“The project is moving along well, and we’ve involved numerous key stakeholder groups along the way so far,” says Sean Parr, Coastal’s Director of Special Projects. “What we’re looking for now is user feedback on issues that are important to their experience of the new space once it’s complete.”

LGH Foundation helps lead the way

A key part of the LGH Outpatient Care Centre and Atrium project is the LGH Foundation’s NOW Campaign, aimed at raising $7M towards this important project.  With $3.3M raised to date, the campaign is close to halfway to meeting its target.
