Long service celebrated on the Sunshine Coast

On a rainy Thursday, Sunshine Coast staff members who reached service milestones in 2018 gathered with colleagues and family members to celebrate their achievements.

Eighty-four Sunshine Coast staff members and physicians reached milestones in 2018 amounting to a combined 965 years of service. Of this group, seven people were celebrating 25 years, two people marked 30 years and one, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Sigrid Petersen, was celebrating 35 years of service. In 1983, when Sigrid was hired, the metric system was officially adopted in Canada and the computer mouse was invented.

“We are exceptionally fortunate to have so many long serving team members,” said VCH Coastal Director, Sunshine Coast Lauren Tindall. “They bring the incredible

sense of community that exists on the Sunshine Coast into our facilities, and provide extraordinary care and support to the people we serve and to one another.”

Thirty-five award recipients attended the celebration event and Coastal Chief Operating Officer Karin Olson emceed and shared a few words about each of the people being honoured. The Sechelt Hospital Foundation co-sponsored the event and provided refreshments served by their staff and board members.
