New food truck is the “taco” Powell River General Hospital

Starting September 23, Powell River General Hospital visitors and staff will have new food options on-site.

Taco the Town Zunga Food Truck will be at the hospital Monday to Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and don’t let the name fool you, they will be offering more than just tacos. They will also be serving coffee and tea; breakfast items such as yogurt, fruit and breakfast tacos; and soup and smoothies will be added to the menu in the coming weeks.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the owners of Taco the Town Zunga Food Truck to offer a variety of hot, fresh dining options to staff and visitors to the hospital,” says Mélie De Champlain, director for Powell River General Hospital. “I know this is something people have been wanting for a long time and it’s great that now people will not have to go off-site to get a meal, snack or coffee.”

The truck will be located just off the cafeteria patio on the grass on the northwest side of the hospital. People will be able to access the food truck using the cafeteria doors.

People from the community and surrounding areas will also be able to come and take advantage of the food truck – there will be a few pull-out areas near the truck for people who want to quickly park, grab some food and get back on the road.
