UPDATED: Swimming advisories in Metro Vancouver

UPDATE August 17 at 11:00 a.m. - Trout Lake is now open & safe for swimming.

UPDATE August 15 at 2:45 p.m. - Jericho Beach is now safe to swim & wade in.

UPDATE August 14 at 1:30 p.m. - The recent advisories for English Bay and Sunset beaches have now been lifted and the beaches have been deemed safe for swimming.

Due to high levels of bacteria in the water, swimming and wading are not recommended at Snug Cove, Bowen Island.

Why is swimming not recommended at these beaches?

High levels of E. coli bacteria in the water increase risk of gastro-intestinal illness to swimmers. VCH is working to monitor the water quality and remove the swimming advisory once the levels have decreased.
