Putting clients and their families at the centre of care is what we do every day. Since 2017 we have been collecting and sharing stories—some simple, others complex—about how you or your team make a difference in the lives of clients and their families. This year, as we continue to collect your stories, we are exploring new and innovative ways to celebrate your kindness and compassion.
Here are two stories to inspire you!
Sam Dhillon works in area supply and covers several different units at VGH. After seeing the well-planned layout on one of these units, Sam suggested to the TBQI team on LB8AB that the same could be done on their unit. Sam showed amazing dedication to this project and patiently waited and persevered to move the project forward. Once maintenance was able to carry out the task of removing bulky metal racks and installing Akro panels, Sam spent an entire shift (on top of his regular duties) reorganizing and stocking these new racks. The result was an amazingly spacious clean utility room with much improved organization!
Staffing Clerks support many departments by working diligently to staff the hospital every day. They deal with abrupt changes in scheduling and organization within all hospital units. The staffing clerks in Richmond and Vancouver were nominated for an I Made a Difference award for their behind the scenes hard work to backfill and assist with schedule changes in order for clinician leads to be able to work their TBQI shifts! When leadership heard about the award presentation, they couldn't help but join in to add in their gratitude for all the support!
