The Vancouver Medical, Dental and Allied Staff Association (VMDAS) has recognized five new physicians/surgeons with its highest accolade: induction into the VCH Hall of Honour. The 2021 recipients are Drs. Victoria Bernstein, Anthony Chow, Allan McKenzie, Frank Patterson and Gordon Phillips. Each has made an outstanding contribution to advancing health care in B.C. They join a select group of physicians who have been recognized since 2018.
“Honouring our physicians and the contributions they make in our organization is extremely important," said Vivian Eliopoulos, VCH President and CEO during the award ceremony. “Their clinical and academic service has benefited the citizens of British Columbia and has brought distinction to VCH for leading-edge clinical work, research and innovation."
Work that transcends a career
“These are all modest people whose work transcends excellence," said VMDAS President Dr. Eric Yoshida. “They will tell you they were just doing their job, but their accomplishments and impact are larger than life and need to be remembered."
