Nine outstanding VCH physicians received awards at this year’s Doctors of BC awards ceremony.
Dr Bakul Dalal, Director of Flow Cytometry Service at Vancouver General Hospital, received the Doctors of BC Silver Medal of Service which is awarded to physicians who have made outstanding contributions to medicine and/or improving the welfare of British Columbians. Doctors of BC shared that:
“Dr. Bakul Dalal has had a significant impact on the careers of countless residents and in the medical research community in BC as a whole. For nearly two decades he has overseen the teaching of all Hematopathology, General Pathology, and Clinical Hematology residents, while also mentoring most resident research projects. Dr Dalal has also devoted much of his career to international medicine, contributing to the Indian Hematology Society and through his active interest in clinical guidelines for the South Asian population.”
The following physicians received Canadian Medical Association Honorary Membership awards. Winners are held in high regard by their colleagues; are humanitarians who have put into practice the aims and ideals of their profession; and exemplify the words of the CMA coat of arms: "Integritate et misericordia” - integrity and compassion.
