The City of Vancouver's sidewalk and bike path construction along the south side of W. 10th Avenue is nearly complete. This month, construction will shift to the north side of W. 10th Avenue to complete the sidewalk, bike path and boulevard from Oak to Willow Street.
Pedestrians: Work continues at the intersection of W. 10th Avenue and Oak Street to facilitate intersection changes such as the new traffic bulge. Please exercise caution in the area and follow flaggers’ instructions.
Cyclists: Eastbound cyclists will share a lane with drivers between Oak and Willow streets. Westbound cycling is temporarily re-routed to the new south side bike path to accommodate construction along the north side of W. 10th Avenue.
During construction hours: Westbound cyclists will travel along the new south side bike path on W. 10th Avenue from Willow Street to Oak Street and then shift to the north side of the road before crossing Oak Street. Please follow traffic control personnel at each end of this detour to help ensure the safety of all road users.
Outside construction hours: Westbound cycling will follow the north side of W. 10th Avenue.
The project is designed to improve patient safety and access, while improving the safety, comfort and accessibility for all modes of transportation along W. 10th Avenue.
Key safety improvements include:
enhanced pick-up and drop-off areas for patients and clients, including 12 new passenger-loading zone and vehicle-staging spaces
10 new disability parking spaces
raised crosswalks and intersections
measures to separate road users
enhanced lighting and wayfinding
