Newly hired Respiratory Therapists at Vancouver General Hospital
Every year Vancouver Coastal Health hires new Respiratory Therapist (RT) grads. This past spring Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) hired new grad students from Thompson Rivers University and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. We are excited for these new RTs to start their careers with VCH!
Respiratory Therapy is an allied health profession and these highly skilled health care professionals care for patients by evaluating, treating, and maintaining cardiopulmonary function. Respiratory Therapists have specialized medical expertise and use advanced medical technology to provide direct care for their patients. They are educated to treat all age groups, from newborns to the elderly.
RT services span across VCH hospitals and community healthcare settings. RT's can work in acute settings such as: intensive care, emergency, wards, and critical care outreach. They respond to urgent critical events such as code blue, code pink, and trauma. RTs also can work in Pulmonary Function labs or in various Community programs.
