Dr. Martin Gleave, director of the Prostate Centre at VGH, is one of five provincial award recipients, winning the “Frontiers in Research Award” for creating the centre's Translational Initiative for Accelerated Discovery and Development. Dr. Gleave holds many honours, including being one of the first researchers in the province to receive a BC Leadership Chair, selected by the Leading Edge Endowment Fund on behalf of the BC Government. The Council also named Dr. Julio Montaner, professor of medicine and chair of AIDS Research at UBC, as its “Science and Technology Champion of the Year” for his leadership in HIV/AIDS clinical work and research.
