Professional Practice leadership team recognized for its innovation

Vancouver Coastal Health's Professional Practice leadership team was presented with the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation (CHSRF/CIHR) Chair Achievement Award in Nursing Health Human Resources in BC.

This award recognizes individuals, groups or employers that have played a key role in identifying, advocating and/or implementing innovative initiatives to promote healthy workplaces for nurses and other health care professionals.

The leadership team was recognized its work over last three years to improve the quality of work life for nurses, contribute to nursing practice supports, spearhead innovative initiatives and apply research to practice.

Team accomplishments

  • Launching the nurses contact centre
  • Integrating nurse practitioners into VCH
  • Introducing a collaborative practice model
  • Developing online resources for patients and staff
  • Supporting Aboriginal nursing practice
