The well-known business publication Business in Vancouver this year launched BC’s only “CFO of the Year” awards to recognize the complexity of the role of the chief financial officer.
This CFO role requires great financial acumen, strategic thinking and the capacity to help others understand the big picture while considering granular detail.
Duncan has played a pivotal role in the transformation of VCH’s fiscal landscape. The ability to meet the increased demand with lower available funding was driven by efficiencies created through new management processes and a new approach to resource allocation and workforce utilization. Duncan’s leadership has been vital in renewing VCH’s cash flow management as part of its turnaround strategy. Another important strategy Duncan leads the growth of our environmental sustainability program across VCH. Duncan was recognized in 2009 by BC Hydro with its Power Smart Workplace Conservation Leadership Award, and Duncan continues to provide leadership as Executive Sponsor of the VCH GreenCare program.
