A free gift for your favourite patient to open

Do you have a friend or family member spending the holidays in hospital with Vancouver Coastal Health? Distance, weather or family obligations can keep you from their bedside. But you can send a welcome hand-delivered greeting via e-mail using VCH’s Well Wishes, a free year-round service provided by VCH’s volunteers.

For Sheela McLean’s mother, daily Well Wishes received from her friends and family broke up the boredom of a long hospital stay.

“It was like she had visitors all the time,” said McLean. “Not only did she look forward to receiving her Well Wishes every afternoon, but she also enjoyed the company of the hospital volunteer who delivered her mail.”

Any other type of communication or messages—for example, conducting personal business, containing questionable content or business/vendor solicitations—will not be delivered. We can not send outgoing replies or confirm that a patient is admitted. All messages are received and handled confidentially.

Well Wishes are distributed daily, Monday to Friday

The Well Wishes e-mail boxes at all three hospitals are checked every morning and messages are printed and hand delivered to patients every afternoon, Monday though Friday. Well Wishes will be expanding to serve other VCH locations in the near future.
