Blenheim Lodge is a 97-bed facility with 63 beds in single rooms and 34 beds in double rooms.

The lodge has three two-storey wings take advantage of the northern slope and allow a view of the North Shore mountains from many bedrooms and from the dining and activity rooms. Blenheim Lodge opened in 1969.

Building amenities

Home-cooked meals are prepared by our staff on site.  Variations are made to accommodate preferences and medical requirements.

Language, culture, religious affiliations

Residents speak predominantly English, although all languages and cultures are accommodated.  The facility is owned and operated by members of the Plymouth Brethren.

Type of accommodation

63 beds in single rooms, and 34 beds in double rooms.  Rooms are various sizes.  Sinks in each bedroom.  Most washrooms are shared between two residents; some rooms have private washrooms.

Cost

 Residents pay 80% of their after tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation. Minimum and maximum rates apply. There may be other costs not included in the resident contribution. For more information on costs, please refer to the Information on Residential Care Guide. 

Special recreation opportunities

Weekly bus trips.  Snoezlen program for dementia residents.

Accessibility

All floors have ground-level entrances.  Three ramps connect varying levels on the first floor.  Wheelchairs are accommodated.  Most toilets are not wheelchair accessible.

Permitted.

Pet policy

The Lodge has a fish tank and a cat.  A dog visits weekly.  Visiting pets are permitted.

Smoking policy

A smoking room accommodates residents who smoke.  (Use of this room is subject to enforcement of the city bylaws.)

Safety/security features

All doors are locked to protect residents who may wander.  Certain residents wear bracelets that protect them from exiting.

Neighbourhood/community amenities

A paved path winds through the attractive gardens on the Lodge property.  A bus stop is directly outside the Lodge, and a community corner store is across the street. 

Facility-specific restrictions

Smoking or consumption of alcohol is not encouraged.  Alcohol requires a physician’s order due to potential drug interactions.  Perimeter is secured, but no locked units.
