Access to clinical systems

Different areas have different expectations when it comes to training for clinical information systems. Upon the placement confirmation and two weeks before the start date, students (except for Medical Office Assistant students placed in Ambulatory Care – see below) are to reach out to their preceptor to introduce themselves, confirm the schedule, and confirm which clinical systems they need access to.

Health Unit Coordinator/Nursing Unit Clerk

CST Cerner

Lions Gate Hospital (including Evergreen Residential Care) and Squamish Hospital (including Hilltop Residential Care) require all students to have training in order to access CST Cerner to document care. Prerequisite on-line modules must be complete before attending training and can be accessed via the Learning Hub. In addition information about your classroom training which will take place on your first or second day on site will be available in your Learning Hub account.

Important: To complete the online training, you will be required to set up a Learning Hub account or reuse the existing one if it has already been set up.

  • All students need to have only one Learning Hub account, and this one account needs to have just your school email address while you are completing your placement at VCH.

  • All students should ensure this information in the Learning Hub account is accurate at least one month before their placement start dates, to ensure you are set up correctly for training and access to our clinical systems.

  • Learn how to merge your accounts or update your health organization.
