LGH (including Evergreen Residential Care) and SGH (including Hilltop Residential Care) require all students to have training in order to access CST Cerner to document care. Prerequisite on-line modules must be complete before attending training and can be accessed via the Learning Hub. In addition via the Learning Hub, you will be notified of your classroom training which will take place on your first or second day on site. Download CST training checklist for students (excluding medical students and residents).
See more information on the CST pre-placement process for students.
Important: To complete the online training, you will be required to set up a Learning Hub account or reuse the existing one if it has already been set up.
All students need to have only one Learning Hub account, and this one account needs to have just your school email address while you are completing your placement at VCH.
All students should ensure this information in the Learning Hub account is accurate at least one month before their placement start dates, to ensure you are set up correctly for training and access to our clinical systems.
Learn how to merge your accounts or update your health organization.
LGH and Sechelt Hospital: Students and instructors may be required to access Omnicell to dispense medications and registration for access is required 2 weeks before the placement starts. If an instructor is not entered into HSPnet, they will not get the student's account information sent to them. Returning students who have been previously auto provisioned an "S" account number will not have their account information resent for ongoing placements. Students are to keep their account information for their entire program and give to their instructors for registering them for Omnicell.
Training
Preceptorship students are trained by their preceptor/supervisor.
For group placements, it is the responsibility of the on-site faculty to train the students in their group. We ask on-site faculty to arrange for Omnicell training prior to the clinical placement using a school instructor to school instructor approach.
Registration

Nursing students on a practicum placement within Vancouver Coastal Health use a generic student ID for the Nova StatStrip glucose meter. Please check with your school for the current ID to use. Training will be given by your preceptor or on-site group instructor.
In some cases, when the student is working a longer time on the unit and a unique ID and password is needed, they should obtain a unique ID from their respective schools. The id can be requested by filling in this form.
For Employee ID, please enter their student number
For Position, please enter "Student"
