CareConnect is BC’s secure, view-only Electronic Health Record providing 24/7 access to an integrated provincial patient chart for
authorized healthcare providers in support of their delivery of patient care. CareConnect is funded by the Ministry of Health,
developed and supported by PHSA, and is provided at no cost to private practices.
Medications from PharmaNet are integrated into CareConnect as part of the consolidated patient record together with lab results
from the Provincial Lab Information System (PLIS) and Imaging reports from the Provincial Diagnostic Imaging Viewer (PDIV). The
medication information within CareConnect displays the last 14 months of the patient’s dispensed medication history.
To receive CareConnect with PharmaNet an application for access to CareConnect needs to be completed in addition to applying for
PharmaNet with the Ministry of Health. There may be some design and functionality differences between PharmaNet vendors.
From CareConnect, you can:
View the complete patient record, including Medications, Labs, Discharge Summaries and more
Quickly and seamlessly access medications dispensed for your patient for the last 14 months, including clinical conditions and
adverse reactions
Easily group results by medication name and view all previous prescriptions dispensed
Identify the physician who prescribed a medication
Print the PharmaNet medication profile
PharmaNet information does allow for printing (like other areas of CareConnect), with a PDF document that can be generated.
Physicians who have accessed PharmaNet via CareConnect as well as through another vendor have not reported any differences
with the performance of the system.
