Hospitals
One-to-one visiting – make friendly conversation with patients
Waiting room assignments– support patients and family members while they wait for services
Retail – sell items in the gift shop, gift cart or thrift shop
Patient libraries – keep library in order and help patients find books
Occupational therapy – support arts and crafts activities, bus outings, gardening programs, breakfast groups, computer sessions and recreation activities
Physiotherapy programs – help with ambulation and exercise groups
Pet visitors – bring your pet to visit with patients who love animals
Hairdresser assistant – assist with haircare and grooming
Recreation and rehabilitation programs (on and off site) - fitness classes, shopping trips, art programs, swim programs and other recreation activities
Seniors Adult day centres – help deliver therapeutic and recreational activities in a group social setting
Telephone buddy – call seniors on a regularly scheduled basis for a wellness check and friendly conversation
Medical escort – accompany frail seniors via HandyDART or taxi to medical appointments
Community Friendly visiting – provide companionship to housebound adults and seniors
Group shopping – meet and assist program participants with their grocery or personal shopping (no driving required)
Shop-by-phone – take grocery orders over the phone at a local Safeway store and shop for housebound Vancouver residents
Children and parents Child & baby clinics – greet parents and assist with weighing and measuring
Health clinic assistant – help at preventative health events such as parenting groups, health fairs and flu clinics
