The Kiwanis Care Centre is a 189 bed residential care facility licensed under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act. Kiwanis does not have any private pay beds.

Building amenities

Lending library, resident’s kitchen, common lounges with television, community room, outdoor patio and gardens. On-site optional service providers: hairdresser, optometrist, dentist, podiatrist, and esthetician. There is also a family room which may be booked at a nominal cost for overnight stays.

Philosophy of care

We take a holistic and individualized approach to resident care, including the promotion of the following residents’ rights to: health, safety and dignity; participation and freedom of expression; transparency and accountability.

Type of accommodation

171 residential care beds in single rooms with the exception of 9 double rooms. 


Residents pay 80% of their after tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation. Minimum and maximum rates apply. There may be other costs not included in the resident contribution. For more information on costs, please refer to the Information on Residential Care guide.

Special recreation opportunities

Recreation therapist, music therapist and activity workers organize a wide range of social and recreational opportunities. Monthly calendar of events is delivered to each unit and daily activities are posted.


Two elevators to help access the three story building. The entrances, gardens, interior amenity spaces and rooms are wheelchair accessible.

Motorized scooter policy

Scooters are not permitted.

Pet policy

Pet visits are permitted. Pets must be in good health, house trained, well tempered, clean and examined annually by a veterinarian.

Smoking policy

Non-smoking facility.

Safety/security features

Equipped with sprinklers, smoke detectors and a monitored fire safety system.

Neighbourhood/community amenities

Located just off the south end of Mt. Seymour Parkway, approximately 3 kms from Parkgate Mall. A bus stop is located within 100m of the facility.
