Dining room, family dining room, TV room, library, activity room, beauty salon, health clinic, scooter room and lounge on the main floor, with a spa room on the second floor. Common laundry facilities on both floors for tenants’ use.
Staff speak both English and Chinese.
Accredited by national organization. Accreditation is not a requirement of assisted living but some residences have received accreditation status. It is an external peer review process to assess and improve the services health care organizations provide to their residents, based on standards of excellence set by Accreditation Canada.
Assisted living provides accommodation, hospitality and personal care services in a manner that:
- Promotes and maximizes choice, dignity, and control for Residents;
- Promotes the Residents’ right to privacy as well as opportunities for social interaction;
- Supports Residents’ independence through physical design features in the building and the delivery of support services;
- Provides care and services that are shaped to meet the Residents’ needs; and
- Creates a home-like environment that supports the Residents’ preferred lifestyle
There are 50 one bedroom suites (apprx. 500 sq feet or larger).

All suites are equipped with fridge, and a full size range/oven. Tenants provide furnishing for their own suites. Comfortable furnishings are provided in both the dining and common amenity space, e.g. Lobby.
Individual tenants pay 70% of after tax income subject to a minimum and maximum amount. The resident contribution includes: monthly rental accommodation, hospitality services (meals, housekeeping, etc) and personal care. Couples living together pay up to 70% of combined after tax income.
Examples of items that are not included as part of the 70% include: telephone, cable, household and toiletry supplies, all medications, personal care supplies and insurance.

Table service is provided in the main dining room at lunch and supper. There is a Western and a Chinese Menu. Meal plans reviewed by a registered dietitian
Included in the monthly rent is weekly laundering of bed linens, as well as weekly housekeeping of tenants' suites.
Recreational programs are organized by staff. Structure programs include newspaper discussion and exercise groups in the morning. Other recreational programs will be tailored to meet the needs of the tenants. Bus outing at least once a month.
Emergency response is available 24 hours.
Tenants must be able to move around their suite on their own and make their own way to the dining room, with or without mobility aides.
Scooters are for outside use only. Scooters must be stored in the scooter room when not in use.
Cats and dogs that are under 50 lbs allowed if owner is capable of looking after them.
No smoking in the building.
Smoke detectors are located in all rooms, elevators and common areas and the building is fully equipped with sprinklers. The main doors and all other exit doors are secured at all hours. Visitors must ring to gain access. Reception on duty part of the day.
Visiting hours are flexible. The main door is locked at all times and visitors must ring to get access.
There are some parking stalls for tenants and visitors. Street parking is also available.
15-20 minutes walk to Steveston Community Centre and 30-45 minutes walk to Steveston Village.
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Austin Harris Residence cannot accommodate tenants who are unable to make decisions on their own behalf, or who require 24 hour professional care. If care needs change significantly, tenants will be supported to find appropriate alternate arrangements.
Tours will be arranged for those that have been pre-approved by a case manager.
