There is a bathing spa on each floor, a visiting hairdresser and fireplace nooks for quiet reading. A large-screen TV, piano and fully equipped kitchen are located in the dining area with a small, separate dining room that can be used by tenants and guests. Tenant laundry machines are on site and a guest suite is available for short stays at a reasonable cost. A secure, outdoor and furnished garden area and BBQ are available for use.
English is the primary language but staff is multi-cultural and speak a variety of languages.

Accreditation is not a requirement of assisted living but some residences have received accreditation status. It is an external peer review process to assess and improve the services health care organizations provide to their residents, based on standards of excellence set by Accreditation Canada.
Assisted living provides accommodation, hospitality and personal care services in a manner that:
- Promotes and maximizes choice, dignity, and control for Residents;
- Promotes the Residents’ right to privacy as well as opportunities for social interaction;
- Supports Residents’ independence through physical design features in the building and the delivery of support services;
- Provides care and services that are shaped to meet the Residents’ needs; and
- Creates a home-like environment that supports the Residents’ preferred lifestyle”
There are 30 one-bedroom (typically 400 sq. feet) units.

Each suite has a small kitchenette with bar-size fridge and microwave. Tenants furnish their own suites. There are a few fully furnished suites donated by the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.

Table service is provided in the main dining room at lunch and supper. Choice of two entrees provided at all meals. Two daily snacks are also provided. Special diets available upon request. Meal plan reviewed by a registered dietitian.
Included in the monthly rent is weekly laundering of linens and towels, as well as weekly housekeeping of tenant’s suite. Washing machines located on the first and second floor are available for tenant’s personal use.
The recreation director will meet with tenants to determine their interest in activities. A rich social and recreational program is available at Cedar Garden.
Staff are on duty 24 hours/day. A call-bell system is installed in the bathroom of each unit.
Tenants must be able to move around their suite on their own, and make their own way to the dining room, with or without mobility aides.
A small scooter storage area is available.

Outdoor smoking room available off VCH grounds. Indoors is a smoke-free environment.
Smoke detectors are located in all rooms and common areas and the building is fully covered by a sprinkler system. The building is secured at all hours. Visitors must ring tenant suite or reception to gain access. Staff on duty 24 hours/day.
Main doors are locked so visitors must ring the tenant’s suite for access.
There are parking stalls available on a first come, first serve basis for both visitors and residents. Ample visitor parking is available on the street.
Located in Lynn Valley, the building is a short bus ride away from Lynn Valley Shopping Centre that includes a grocery store and post office. Located within walking distance of a bus route. Cedar Garden is co-located with Cedarview Lodge, a 90-bed complex care facility.
All suites are wheelchair accessible.
Cedar Garden cannot accommodate tenants who are unable to make decisions on their own behalf, or who require 24-hour professional care. Tenants will be supported to find appropriate alternate arrangements through their case manager.
Tours are available on an individual basis for those preliminarily assessed for assisted living by a case manager.
