There is a hair salon on the building’s lower level available for use by all residents and an activity/craft room with an adjacent sunny patio. The main level has a 1700 square foot dining room, activity room, lounge area with a large screen TV as well as a residential kitchen/servery, accessible to residents. On the second level there is a spa bathing room with an accessible whirlpool tub.
English is the primary languagebut staff are multi-cultural and speak a variety of languages.

Accreditation is not a requirement of assisted living but some residences have received accreditation status. It is an external peer review process to assess and improve the services health care organizations provide to their residents, based on standards of excellence set by Accreditation Canada.
Assisted living provides accommodation, hospitality and personal care services in a manner that:
- Promotes and maximizes choice, dignity, and control for Residents;
- Promotes the Residents’ right to privacy as well as opportunities for social interaction;
- Supports Residents’ independence through physical design features in the building and the delivery of support services;
- Provides care and services that are shaped to meet the Residents’ needs; and
- Creates a home-like environment that supports the Residents’ preferred lifestyle
There are 30 one-bedroom assisted living units (approximately 525 square feet), each with their own bathroom and walk-in shower. The one bedroom units are typically large enough to accommodate couples. The building also has an additional 46 units of affordable housing rentals available through the housing provider (West Vancouver Kiwanis).

All suites are equipped with a fridge and stove. Occupants provide furnishings for their own suites. Comfortable furnishings are provided in the dining area and common amenity spaces (lobby, etc).
Individual tenants pay 70% of after tax income subject to a minimum and maximum amount. The resident contribution includes: monthly rental accommodation, hospitality services (meals, housekeeping, etc) and personal care. Couples living together pay up to 70% of combined after tax income.
Examples of items that are not included as part of the 70% include: telephone, cable, household and toiletry supplies, all medications, personal care supplies and insurance.

Table service is provided in the main dining room at lunch and supper. Choice of 2 entrees provided at both meals. Modified diets are available upon request. The meal plan is reviewed by a registered dietitian.
Included in the monthly rent is weekly laundering of linens and towels, as well as weekly housekeeping of resident’s suites. Coin operated machines located on each floor are available for resident’s personal use.

Wireless emergency response system and staff on site 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
Residents must be able to move around their suite on their own and make their own way to the dining room, with or without mobility aides.

Kiwanis Manor is centrally located in West Vancouver where the Hollyburn & Dundarave neighbourhoods meet. It is one and a half blocks from Marine Drive and a major bus route. It is adjacent to the West Vancouver Recreational and Seniors Centres and within 3 blocks of the West Vancouver Library. Four churches are close to Kiwanis Manor: St Stephen’s Anglican, West Vancouver United Church, Christian Science and St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic. It is close to Ambleside, a major shopping area with many restaurants and services. A major grocery store is located in the Dundarave neighbourhood located 5 blocks away. Medical services are available close by.
Immediate access to Kiwanis Manor is on level ground; however the building is located on a sloped parcel of land. With some caution, individuals who have electric wheelchairs will be able to navigate around the neighbourhood.
Kiwanis Manor is not able to accommodate occupants who cannot make decisions on their own behalf, or who require 24 hour professional care. Occupants will be supported to find appropriate alternate arrangements.
Tours are available for those that have been pre-approved for assisted living by a case manager. Tours are available on the second Wednesday of each month and will begin at 2 p.m.
