Residents and staff of the Windermere come from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds and speak many languages. The predominant language spoken is English. An Asian meal is available for lunch. Catholic, Anglican and interdenominational services are held weekly.
Accreditation is an external peer review process to assess and improve the services health care organizations provide to their residents, based on standards of excellence set by Accreditation Canada
Windermere Care Centre promotes an interdisciplinary approach to resident care with active participation in care planning by residents and family.
170 beds in single rooms and 22 beds in double rooms. All rooms have large windows and washrooms.
Residents pay 80% of their after tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation. Minimum and maximum rates apply. There may be other costs not included in the resident contribution. Visit our Costs page for more information.
A broad range of recreational and restorative care programs are provided by staff and volunteers to meet the physical, spiritual and cognitive abilities of our residents. The facility has its own wheelchair accessible bus for field trips and outings.
One large wheelchair friendly elevator and two smaller elevators that do not easily accommodate wheelchairs.
The facility is not able to accommodate motorized wheelchairs or scooters.
Pets are welcome to visit, subject to meeting the requirements of the facility’s policy for pet visits.
The facility promotes a smoke-free environment and will assist residents with their smoking cessation efforts.
Windermere Care Centre is not secured site, however the garden is enclosed and exits are locked or monitored for wandering. “RoamAlert” wander monitoring system is available for residents at risk. All rooms have smoke detectors, sprinklers and two call bells. All floors are monitored by security cameras.
One block to transit on Oak Street. Close to City Square shopping centre and the Broadway shopping corridor.
