We minimize environmental health risks for the public. Many of our programs are mandated in legislation by the Public Health Act.
Services under the health protection umbrella generally fall into three areas:
Environmental health supports food safety, water quality, air quality, pest management, sanitation, noise control, injury prevention and tobacco reduction.
Facility licensing protects and promotes the health, safety and well-being of vulnerable children and adults in care facilities such as residential care homes and daycares.
Tobacco control educates the public about long-term risks of smoking and works with retail outlets and minors to enforce tobacco control bylaws and regulations.
Use the environmental health feedback form to contact an environmental health officer or licensing officer.
Our environmental health officers work in partnership with the cities to support municipal noise control programs.
