City by-law restricts pesticide use

City of Vancouver health by-law 9071 restricts the use of pesticides, including insecticides, herbicides and fungicides. It came into effect January 1, 2006. It also requires certain conditions to be met before pesticides can be applied and it allows the use of reduced risk products listed in Schedule A.

The intent of the by-law change is to encourage people to reduce the use of pesticides on their yard and properties.
