Supports the emotional and physical demands of caregivers

Caregiver support provides caregivers a break from the emotional and physical demands of caring for a friend or relative. It is available at home through Home and Community Care or outside of the home through short-term stays, called respite, in a care facility or hospice.

It is one of the many Home and Community Care services available.

A caregiver is anyone who provides unpaid care and support to an adult friend or family member who:

  • Has an ongoing illness or disability
  • Is elderly
  • Is approaching the end of their life
