Shorncliffe Intermediate Care Facility hospice rooms offer a tranquil setting with the ability for a family member to spend the nights with their loved one. Outside the family room is a beautiful patio and garden area for those who enjoy the outdoors, maintained by our volunteers.
Building amenities
Activity rooms, main TV lounge room, hair salon, dining room and administration offices. There is also an outdoor Rose Garden patio and extended patios at the back of the building.
Language, culture, religious affiliations
The resident population is multicultural and the languages spoken by the residents is predominately English.
Accreditation status
Accreditation is an external peer review process to assess and improve the services health care organizations provide to their residents, based on standards of excellence set by Accreditation Canada or by CARF.
Philosophy of care
Residents and families are encouraged to participate through Residents’ and Family Council and various home committees. The staff of the home are committed to the Eden Alternative.

59 single rooms of which 6 are adjoining. 2 community respite rooms and 2 hospice rooms with a family room.
Cost
Residents pay 80% of their after tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation. Minimum and maximum rates apply. There may be other costs not included in the resident contribution. Visit our Costs page for more information.
Special recreation opportunities
A wide variety of social and recreational programming to meet the needs and interests of the residents. Activities include social bus outings. Scheduled programs are offered 5 days a week and include such things as strength training, music therapy programs and special events etc.
Accessibility
Both floors are wheelchair accessible. Ramp area at the front entrance and covered pick up area.
Motorized scooter policy
This site can accommodate manual wheelchairs; electric wheel chairs or scooters are permitted inside the building once the operator has been certified by the occupational therapist. Secure scooter storage is available.
Pet policy
Pet visiting is acceptable if it is determined that such visiting promotes the health and wellbeing of the residents.
Smoking policy
Smoking is not permitted on-site.
Safety/security features
Secured monitored building with 24 hour staffing, smoke detectors and a fire alarm system.
Neighbourhood/community amenities
Located near a major bus route, located within walking distance of the local mall and a community park.
Care home-specific restrictions
No unauthorized alcohol is permitted. No smoking on site.
