COVID-19 notification for Pacific Dental Conference 2020
B.C.'s Provincial Health Officer rescinds orders for COVID-19
This news release contains information that is more than six months old and may be out of date. On July 26, 2024, B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer issued an order to end the public health emergency for COVID-19 and rescinded all related orders.
Vancouver, BC – Vancouver Coastal Health is asking those who attended or worked at the Pacific Dental Conference 2020 at the Vancouver Convention Centre on March 5th, 6th and 7th to self-isolate until March 22.
VCH initially made a public notification on March 12 following the identification of one case. Since then, a number of new cases related to the conference have been identified. We are therefore asking anyone who attended or worked at the conference to self-isolate and monitor for the symptoms of COVID-19:
-
Fever
-
Cough
-
Headache
-
Shortness of breath
As long as participants of the conference remain healthy and do not develop symptoms, they can return to their routine activities after March 22. If any attendees or staff develop mild respiratory symptoms (for example, runny nose or other cold-like symptoms), we are asking them to self-isolate at home for 14 days from initial symptom onset. Testing is not recommended for those who have mild respiratory symptoms. If respiratory symptoms worsen, please call 811 or your health care provider.
For more information on self-isolation, see the BC Centre for Disease Control's patient handout.
