B.C.'s Provincial Health Officer rescinds orders for COVID-19
This news release contains information that is more than six months old and may be out of date. On July 26, 2024, B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer issued an order to end the public health emergency for COVID-19 and rescinded all related orders.
Vancouver, BC- Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) continues to record a significant reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Whistler community compared to recent weeks. This can be attributed, in part, to the week-long vaccination program VCH held in Whistler for all residents who have a primary residence in Whistler or who work in this community.
- From April 19 to April 25, VCH identified 17 new cases of COVID-19 in Whistler.
-
The week prior (April 12 to April 18), VCH identified 72 new cases of COVID-19 in Whistler.
-
From Jan. 1 to April 25, there were 1,775 cases* recorded in the Whistler community.
-
To date, 17,100 doses of vaccine have been administered in clinics in Whistler to eligible residents and those who are eligible in neighbouring communities.
From April 12 to April 18, VCH led a local vaccination program in response to increasing COVID-19 transmission recorded in the Whistler community. Any eligible residents who are not yet vaccinated are encouraged to register for their vaccination through the provincial booking system. Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is one of the most important steps all eligible residents can take to protect themselves and their community against COVID-19.
VCH extends its appreciation for the support and partnership of the Resort Municipality of Whistler in running the vaccination clinics in this community.
Vancouver Coastal Health is responsible for the delivery of $4.1 billion in community, hospital and long-term care to more than one million people in communities including Richmond, Vancouver, the North Shore, Sunshine Coast, Sea to Sky corridor, Powell River, Bella Bella and Bella Coola. VCH also provides specialized care and services for people throughout B.C., and is the province's hub of health-care education and research.
